We are back in Zambia. πΏπ² Before gaining independence from Britain in 1964, Zambia was called Northern Rhodesia. Remember that man, Rhode, who colonized both Zimbabwe and Zambia? π€ Lusaka itself has often served as a buffer zone where conflicts from surrounding countries were resolved. π«
It rains so heavily all night that it feels like the streets will be impossible to walk through the next day. But no β itβs not that bad. β Weβve only experienced such heavy rains in Congo, and there it was tragic. π΅βπ« Today, weβre heading to the Malawi embassy. Malawi is another country with a $50 e-visa, but applying online requires an invitation letter with a signature, which is not easy to get. πΆβπ«οΈ Before, it was possible to get a visa at the Malawian embassy in Lusaka for $100, and we are ready to pay extra. π€ But today, they tell us β no. Only online. π» And what about that invitation letter? A strange requirement for a first-time visitor who doesnβt know anyone in the country. If it has to be bought, isnβt that an impractical rule that proves nothing? π Visa applications always come with weird rules.
