🇧🇼 2/2025 Botswana Travel
Day 132, 8.02.2025. — Hello, Botswana! 🇧🇼
A night on the bus, a morning in a northern Namibian village. 🇳🇦 Our plan was to head straight to Botswana, but the minibus was full. Archa, however, persistently asked the driver if two seats could be found, and — success! Not only do we get seats, but for a few bucks less than the official price. 🥳 The only issue? One extra passenger, meaning someone has to stand. 😶🌫️
A quick stop at a supermarket. The 15-minute shopping limit is hard for the locals to follow, so the driver goes looking for passengers and even helps the ladies carry their shopping bags. 🦸 He warns us that Botswana has strict import rules — everyone should just write “groceries” on their declaration forms. 🛍️ Nothing illegal, really — just supermarket goods. 💁 When a foreigner asks about spices, they’re advised to declare them as “medicine.” 🤫
By 10 a.m., we’re at the Namibian border. Stamps are processed quickly. There’s a sign warning travelers — beyond this point, no animal products are allowed: no milk, honey, meat, or pet food. What do we do with the last item? 🤔 Lucky for us, a hungry cat is wandering around the nearly empty border post. Today is a feast day for him. 🐈 Namibia didn’t have as many stray dogs to feed everything to. 🤷
