🇹🇬 12/2024 Togo Travel
Day 64, 2.12.2024. — Ghana ➡️ Togo
Today is planned as a “travel day” instead of a mountain adventure, but as always, travel days in Africa are just as exciting as the mountains! 🤭 When we leave the hotel this morning, we aren’t even sure which route we’d take — either straight across the border or through Ghana’s capital along the coast. Ghana has its advantages: minibuses, English speakers, and currency we already have… 🤔
At the Ghana-Togo border, the atmosphere is quiet — locals just waking up and enjoying breakfast. 🍌 We need to print our e-visas at a small shack that had been closed on Sunday. Thankfully, the printer guy is reachable on Monday. The entire process takes an hour — booting up the ancient computer and printer feels like a miracle. But hey, it worked! 👏 While waiting, we chat with the printer guy’s American friend, a volunteer working on farms in exchange for room and board. Interestingly, her ancestors came from Liepāja, Latvia, which she visited last winter. We recommend a summer visit instead! 🌿
Our plan to travel across Africa using public transport never fails to surprise people. Yet, isn’t life itself a great adventure? 🏂 The journey, though long, is an integral part of the experience. ⏳ And so, we decide to cross the border on foot, into a nearby village.
