Day 58, 26.11.2024 — Our 100th! 🇬🇭

At five in the morning, along with Allah`s songs and the roosters, we head to the bus station. Côte d’Ivoire… there’s street lighting! 👀 Supposedly, there should be a direct bus to Accra, Ghana’s capital, for €38. Expensive, but worth asking. At the station, the people who told us to come in the morning are nowhere to be found. Others tell us these long-distance buses only run from Abidjan, and we’re not going back there. We already have enough road ahead of us. 😑

The alternative? Two local minibuses can take us to the border. But, of course, we have to wait for them to fill up first. Heading toward Abidjan is much more popular — people are queuing for those buses. 👥 Yes, they know how to queue here. 👏 Côte d’Ivoire keeps surprising us, even on the last day.

After an hour and a half of waiting, our minibus is as empty as it was at dawn. So, like a Moldovan woman we met in Sierra Leone, we decide to try hitchhiking. The driver notices and won’t let his only paying passengers leave. Now it’s suddenly time to go. 🙄 Should’ve thrown our bags on and left earlier. 😆

The morning mist lingers, a reminder of the rainy season. A woman with bare breasts hunts a chicken. 🍗 Farewell, Grand-Bassam!
