Day 11, 10.10.2024. — Second attempt? ✌️

People are getting angry — the flight to Mauritania is canceled, though some manage to connect to their next destination. Air Senegal staff briefly explain: “It’s due to the weather,” then leave. 🏃 Sure, it’s better than crashing in a storm, but surely we’re entitled to some compensation for the inconvenience? 🤔 The Arabs seem to know this best — they’re the loudest and most assertive, and we decide to follow their lead. 👣 One of them even tries something bold: an Indian passenger pulls an airline staff member aside and attempts to persuade him to quietly refund his ticket money — just for him. 🤭

Loud debates and explanations carry on until midnight. 😴 The original departure was scheduled for 7 PM. A Couchsurfing host messages us, saying Air Senegal is struggling financially, and we shouldn’t expect any compensation. Well, fair enough — our time in China taught us to adapt quickly. 🐇 Mauritania can wait; we’ll visit it later when we explore North Africa. It’s located just above Senegal, where we’re currently stuck. While we could get there by bus, spending all that time traveling back and forth doesn’t seem worth it since we’ll need to return to Senegal anyway. For now, we can just head outside and continue our journey southward. ⤵️ But then…
