🇸🇹 1/2025 San Tome and Principe Travel
Day 91, 29.12.2024. — Like two Robinsons! 🤠
We bid farewell to Gabon, only to plan our return soon. 👋 Such a cool country. Smokers there always step aside, and those trying to help us make an effort to speak English. On the streets, motorcycles are rare, and yet another attempt to find mosquito repellent ends in failure — it seems the locals are unbothered by mosquitoes. 🤔
The night, however, is terrifying. Thunder, lightning, and rain pouring down in buckets. 🌪️ It stirs up the mosquitoes, who sneak into our room through gaps we can’t identify, and frightens the rats, who scurry across the roof, trying to save themselves. 🐀 Are we even going to fly tomorrow? Surely flying in weather like this is dangerous! It’s the rainy season we were hoping to avoid… 😑
But morning brings hope. The skies are still dark, but the rain has stopped. We head to the airport, the same one we slept at recently. Turns out Afrijet has its own terminal. At first, we’re made to wait outside. Will this be as bad as Cameroon? 🇨🇲 Thankfully, no. When we’re finally let inside three hours before departure, there’s air conditioning, clean toilets, and even free coffee. ☕ A friendly customs officer stamps over our previous stamps without hesitation. 👏
