Day 98, 5.01.2025. — Travel Day №1 ✈️
The rain has been holding back, waiting for the perfect moment to unleash itself. And, of course, it chooses now — the day we fly out. 🌧️ It pours relentlessly, as if it’s been saving up just for us. But it doesn’t know our flight isn’t until 3 PM, and we still need to make it to the airport. 😅 We wake up, half-dreading the journey ahead, wondering if we’ll even make it there dry. Worse still, there’s the possibility our plane won’t even take off… In Africa, not a single one of our flights has been on time. 😑 This is our eighth flight. Will it finally be the lucky one?
We eat whatever we can find, clearing out the leftovers. The cats, already stuffed from last night’s feast, are officially on a diet now. 🐈 With raincoats zipped up, we head out into the flooded streets. The yellow taxis? Reckless as ever, tearing down the roads like no one might be walking there. 😜 The locals are fashion-forward today, rocking full COVID hazmat suits as their latest rainwear trend. 😅 We make a pit stop for one last cup of amazing coffee before catching a minibus to the airport, just 7 km away. Two seats in the bus are free — perfect for us. We hop in and… success! Nobody tries to overcharge us! 👏
The airport is closed (small country life), and everyone waits outside. Two hours to go until our flight. A scruffy dog lounges…
